Our mission is to enhance the health, performance, and longevity of America’s working dogs by delivering top-tier nutrition, education, and wellness support, through our Arizona nonprofit.

We partner with communities to ensure these canine heroes thrive—on duty and in retirement.

While these dogs are essential to public safety, their nutrition is often limited by budget constraints and outdated feeding practices. Through community support and donor-funded assistance, K9 Performance Alliance provides access to premium nutrition, natural supplements, personalized wellness guidance, and ongoing wellness support. By covering these nutritional needs, we help alleviate the financial strain on handlers and law enforcement agencies, allowing them to focus their resources on protecting the communities they serve while ensuring their K9 partners receive the nutrition they deserve.

Our Purpose

More than six years ago, I began working alongside law enforcement handlers who were searching for answers to chronic digestive issues, allergies, poor body condition, and other health concerns affecting their K-9 partners. These dogs work tirelessly to protect their communities, yet many were struggling with nutrition that simply wasn’t meeting their individual needs.

By transitioning these canine officers to biologically appropriate nutrition and providing personalized nutritional guidance throughout the process, I watched remarkable transformations take place. Digestive issues improved. Allergies subsided. Body condition normalized. Energy, recovery, and overall wellness flourished.

As word spread, I had the privilege of supporting additional K-9 teams, working directly with handlers to develop individualized nutrition plans and provide ongoing guidance as their dogs progressed. Every K-9 was treated as the unique athlete they are, because no two working dogs have the same nutritional requirements.

Why Nutrition Matters

Working police K-9s aren’t ordinary dogs—they’re elite tactical athletes. Every day, they rely on strength, endurance, agility, focus, and their extraordinary sense of smell to locate suspects, detect narcotics or explosives, track missing persons, and protect their handlers and communities. Just like human athletes, their bodies perform best when fueled with the right nutrition.

Nutrition influences hydration, muscle development, recovery after training and deployments, immune function, digestive health, cognitive performance, healthy body weight, and the long-term health of joints, organs, and connective tissues. Proper nutrition can help these canine officers stay healthier throughout their careers and enjoy a better quality of life in retirement.

Breed, genetics, age, workload, environment, medical history, and metabolism all influence a dog’s nutritional requirements. A one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t provide every working dog with the support they need. That’s why K9 Performance Alliance focuses on personalized nutrition, tailoring recommendations to each K-9’s individual needs and performance demands.

While many commercially available highly processed kibble diets meet minimum nutritional standards, they may not always provide the moisture content, ingredient quality, or species-appropriate nutrition that supports optimal performance and long-term wellness for every working dog. Our goal isn’t to criticize any particular feeding choice—it’s to help handlers make informed decisions and provide access to the highest-quality nutrition possible based on each dog’s unique needs. When a police K-9 receives biologically appropriate nutrition and targeted wellness support, the benefits extend far beyond the dog. Healthier K-9s mean better recovery, greater resilience, fewer nutrition-related challenges, and more years of service protecting the communities that depend on them.

Every day, working police K-9s put themselves in harm’s way to protect our communities. They simply show up, ready to serve. By 'Adopting a K-9' through K9 Performance Alliance, you become part of that dog’s team. Of course, this isn't an adoption in the traditional sense, it’s a commitment to helping provide the personalized nutrition and wellness support these canine heroes deserve though a monthly sponsorship. Each dog costs about $300 monthly in the program.

How It Works

Each participating K-9 receives a personalized nutrition and wellness plan based on their individual needs, workload, age, health history, and performance demands.

Monthly sponsor contributions are placed into K9 Performance Alliance’s nonprofit nutrition fund and are used exclusively to provide:

• High-quality, biologically appropriate nutrition

• Natural supplements to support joints, digestion, immune health, recovery, and overall wellness

• Hydration support for training, deployments, and recovery

• Ongoing nutritional guidance for handlers

By covering these essential nutrition costs, we help alleviate the financial burden on handlers and law enforcement agencies while ensuring every participating K-9 continues receiving the nutrition they need to thrive.

Meet Cooper

Age: 8 Years Old

Assignment: Police K-9 – Narcotics Detection

Cooper is more than a police dog—he’s a dedicated partner, an elite detection K-9, and a trusted member of his department.

For six years, Cooper has been fueled with personalized, biologically appropriate nutrition and natural wellness support tailored to the demands of his job. During that time, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside his handler to help keep Cooper healthy, lean, and ready for every training day and deployment.

Today, at eight years old, Cooper continues to perform with the enthusiasm of a much younger dog. He trains hard, works with incredible drive, and still lives for his favorite reward—a tennis ball.

Meet Bob

Age: 3 Years Old

Breed: Belgian Malinois

Assignment: Police K-9 – Dual Purpose

 Sir Robert the 111 also known as Bob, came to the department from Poland. 

K9 Bob is a dual-purpose police K9 with the Prescott Police Department, serving alongside his handler, Officer Luke. Together, they have completed extensive training and achieved an impressive milestone by earning the International Police Work Dog Association (IPWDA) Trailing Certification—one of the nation’s most demanding tracking certifications.

The certification required Bob to successfully follow a 1.5-mile trail, aged for one hour, through multiple turns and roadway crossings, demonstrating exceptional scent discrimination, endurance, and teamwork.

This accomplishment made K9 Bob the first police K9 in Arizona to earn this prestigious IPWDA Trailing Certification, reflecting the dedication, discipline, and elite partnership between Bob and Officer Luke.

K9 Performance Alliance is an Arizona nonprofit corporation organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Our mission is to support law enforcement agencies by ensuring that working police K-9s receive appropriate nutrition through donor-funded assistance, nutrition education, and wellness support.

The organization does not sell food products, operate a retail establishment, solicit pet owners for consumer pet nutrition services, or compete in the consumer pet market. All donations and program support are intended to advance the charitable mission of improving the health, performance, recovery, and longevity of working police K-9s.

As our organization works toward obtaining recognition as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, donations made prior to IRS approval are not currently tax-deductible. If and when federal tax-exempt status is granted, deductibility of contributions will be subject to applicable IRS rules and regulations.

K9 Performance Alliance is committed to transparency, responsible stewardship of donor funds, working collaboratively with law enforcement agencies and community partners to improve the lives of the working dogs that protect our communities.

It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical conditions. This consultation should not replace veterinary care or professional medical advice from a licensed veterinarian.
